Does Algore really think he will become president?

No!!!!!! Of course he doesn’t. If he does then he is crazy. He has lost way too many times in court and will continue to lose.

Why does he keep fighting then?

Many democrats have stopped fighting. Lawyers are staying in this because they are getting paid to. What Algore and many democrats can’t believe is that Algore lost to George Bush. Democrats think of Bush as a stupid southerner. They don't think Bush knows where China is on the map. They think Bush is not very educated. So how could Gore lose to Bush? Gore thinks he has accomplished so much. He is so educated and all his life he has wanted to become president. He has had to live with Clinton for the last 8 years and thinks it is his turn to be president. He is so proud of himself and then he looks at Bush and sees a guy who he believes has accomplished nothing. He believes Bush one day just said, "daddy, I want to be president just like you." Now Bush may not have as high of grades as Gore but Bush did go to Yale and Harvard. He’s not stupid. Bush has much better judgement than Gore.

Why do some democrats stay with Gore?

Well, there are two types of democrats who are staying with Gore. I think Dick Gephart wants to bury Gore so that Gephart would get nomination as democrat candidate in 2004. Others also believe that if Gore cannot win against Bush now, then Gore will not be able to win in 2004. Those democrats want Gore’s popularity to go down. Look, if Gore couldn’t beat Bush by cheating, what makes these democrats think Gore will win in 2004? One democrat said, "Everything was going for Gore--a great economy with no desire for change, a weak Republican opponent. This is the worst presidential campaign that I have seen in my lifetime--yes, even worse than [Michael] Dukakis [in 1988]. It's the candidate. He's horrible. How could he lose Tennessee? How could he lose West Virginia? I will not go through this again in four years."

These people love to be in courts and drag this out and make Gore look stupid.

Now there is a second type of democrat. These people are staying with Gore because they want to make it hard on the Bush administration. They want the market to go bad and they want to make the Bush transition to the White House as difficult as they can. They know they are going to lose but at least Bush will look stupid when he is not prepared to run the country in January. These people hate Bush and do not want to get along with the Bush administration. They want to fight anything Bush will try to pass in congress. These people like Jesse Jackson are going to be recounting the votes in the spring to make sure everyone knows that Bush really lost the election and therefore we have a guy in office who we did not vote for. That is really nice of them. Remember, these democrats will be counting the ballots their way so don’t be surprised if blank ballots go to Gore.
